Vehicles, vessels & mobile platforms

A machine mounted on a forklift, truck, special vehicle or vessel. It vibrates the whole journey, draws power from a 12V or 24V battery — the voltage sags hard at engine crank and jumps up once the alternator runs. No cabinet, no air-conditioning, and no maintenance until it breaks.

A box PC hidden behind the dashboard or in an equipment bay — the brain for positioning, dashcams, fleet management. Not exposed to the light, so the criteria are all about power and vibration.

Wide DC input range. A 24V battery actually swings from about 18V at crank to 32V under alternator charge. A machine that only accepts 24V±10% reboots at every engine crank. A 9–48V range swallows that whole swing.

Where people get caught out

Things the filter above does NOT catch. Read before you commit.

  • Rail has its own standard, EN 50155 — stricter than MIL-STD-810G on electrical transients and fire/smoke. If your project is rail, ask us clearly first, don’t rely on this filter alone.
  • Ignition power control is well worth having: it lets the machine shut down cleanly after the vehicle is switched off, instead of losing power abruptly and corrupting the operating system. Not every machine has it — ask first.
  • The power connector should be a screw-locking type. A plain push-in barrel plug works itself loose after a few months of rough roads.
