Panel PCs come with projected capacitive (PCAP) or resistive touch. Which suits a workshop?

Capacitive touch (PCAP): hard glass surface, light touch, multi-touch (swipe, zoom), more resistant to scratches and cleaning chemicals. Drawbacks: water on the surface can cause false touches, and thick gloves are not detected unless the machine has a glove mode. Resistive touch: responds to pressure, so it works with thick gloves and plastic styluses and is less affected by standing water. Drawbacks: single touch only, the outer film scratches and wears over time, and the image is slightly less clear. Suggestions by environment: 1. HMI station in a dry workshop with a modern interface: PCAP. 2. Washdown areas, workers in thick rubber gloves: resistive, or PCAP with water-rejection and glove modes. 3. Areas with metal swarf that scratches surfaces: PCAP with toughened glass. 4. Cold stores with insulated gloves: test the actual gloves on a sample unit before choosing. Many Panel PC lines offer both versions in the same size, making it easy to switch.
