Our machine has fans because it needs a powerful CPU and expansion cards. How should we maintain fans and dust filters so it lasts?

A fan-cooled industrial machine lasts well with scheduled maintenance. Failures usually come from dust blocking airflow rather than from the fan itself. Reference schedule: 1. Dust filter: inspect monthly in a dusty workshop, quarterly in a control room. Replace or wash it once dust visibly discolours the filter; a clogged filter raises internal temperature gradually with no alarm. 2. Fans: listen for whining or unusual vibration and track fan speed in the monitoring software. Industrial fans typically have a rated life of tens of thousands of hours at 40 °C, but life shortens as temperature rises. 3. Interior: once a year, power down and blow out dust with dry compressed air, holding the fan blades so they do not spin freely. Prefer machines with fans replaceable from outside and tool-free filters. Set a CPU temperature alert in the monitoring software to catch a dirty filter early. Where dust is conductive (metal swarf, carbon powder), consider a fanless machine or a sealed air-conditioned cabinet instead.
