Fault diagnosis

Answer a few questions to narrow down the cause. The steps follow the order technicians actually use: rule things out from the outside in, from cheap to expensive.

What to do

Almost certainly overheating

  1. Measure the temperature INSIDE the cabinet at the hottest hour, not in the room
  2. Compare against the datasheet temperature range — remember that figure is the ambient temperature around the machine
  3. Check whether the heatsink fins are caked with dust or blocked by objects
  4. For sealed cabinets, fit a ventilation fan or cut vent openings
  5. If the machine has an optional external fan kit, consider adding it
